My name is Drew Szuch. I’m a 19-year-old racecar driver from the Midwest. I’m a first-generation driver chasing the goal I set for myself as a kid: a career in professional racing.
Since I started racing karts six years ago I’ve known that I wanted to make motorsports my life, however, I struggled to see a clear path that felt right to me.
In my short career to date, I have forged my own path in the junior formula racing world. From operating a grassroots race team on the national stage, to finding my place at a team with legendary experience and pedigree, I’m always looking to progress to the next big thing.

Why I do
what I do?
“I’ve known for a long time that working in the racing industry, driving and being in motorsports has been my life goal. So, I owe it to myself and to all the people who have supported me along the way to give it everything no matter what. And that’s what I’m doing, every single day."
My career in racing cars had an unconventional start: at 18 years old, after volunteering in and studying the F4 US Championship for a year prior, I took a gamble on myself and bought a Formula 4 car, with no prior car racing experience. Throughout the 2024 season, I raced in the Ligier JSF4 Series (formerly the F4 US Championship) as Szuch Racing.
Szuch Racing comprised a crew of college friends who volunteered their time and skills to help me achieve my goal. I worked out of my parent’s garage as the sole mechanic, learning the methodology and mechanical processes to build and tune a racecar while learning to drive it at the same time. For all of us, it was our first foray into professional racing, and I was proud to be able to compete alongside larger, more established teams in the industry. At the end of the year, I was honored to accept the Catherine Crawford Award presented by Ligier Automotive North America for my improvement.
For the 2025 season, I had the opportunity to join Berg Racing as they expanded into a multi-car program in the Ligier Junior Formula Championship. This was my first opportunity to work with a driving coach and highly experienced race engineer, which made a huge difference in my performance on track. I am now able to focus on being the best driver I can be, through a carefully designed program of telemetry analysis, setup development, and data driven, intentional testing.

In my two years of Formula 4 racing in the US, so far I have achieved three wins, seven podiums, and two pole positions. I am competing for the 2025 Ligier JFC Drivers Championship title and looking to close the season out strong with more wins.
Since joining Berg Racing, my development as a driver has been greatly aided by my friends and colleagues Alex and Allen Berg. They each boast impressive resumes of driving both at the highest level and in the cars I am learning to compete in now. With their guidance, I know I am well positioned to take on more challenges in the future.
Throughout my time as a driver, I supplemented my career with summer jobs at race shops, working as a mechanic and supporting track day experiences, while also shadowing coaches and industry professionals that I look up to. As such, I have experienced racing from many different angles. I am proud to share my lived experiences with students at my university’s motorsports program, and with other people who have the same drive that I do.
Every connection I have in the world of motorsports I made for myself. As a first-generation racecar driver, I have no family pedigree in the industry, but I am confident that I can make a name for myself in the American racing scene.
A core value I hold in my career is to never stop moving forward. I’m proud to have worked with so many different teams and in so many different environments, and each one has taught me valuable lessons.
